Everything you need to know to vote
1. FIRST, MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED
Do it online at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk. It'll only take a few minutes, all you need to do is print it, sign it and mail it. The deadline to register is 18 th April. Check for your local Electoral Register Office below. If you are registered at an old address, you can re-register at your new address.
2. YOU CAN VOTE FROM HOME
If you think you won't be able to vote in person on Election Day, you can obtain a postal vote or proxy vote. Download a postal vote form or proxy vote form. Just print it, fill it out and send it back.
3. CHECK YOUR POLLING PLACE
Prior to Election Day, you will receive a polling card, which will state your local polling station. If you haven't received your polling card don't worry, visit your local registration office to find your local station. You can vote without your polling card, just give your name and address to the member of staff at the polling station.
4. TAKE YOUR POLLING CARD WITH YOU
To be on the safe side take your polling card with you. If you don't have your card, give the member of staff your name and address.
5. DON'T FEEL INTIMIDATED
You don't have to be a genius or even politically orientated to vote. You just really need to have an opinion & everyone has an opinion. We always encourage you to have an informed opinion & there are many resources available to help you learn more the issues. Also the process is really, really easy. It is no more difficult than withdrawing money from an ATM. Don't worry about it. Just VOTE!!
